After more than three years of construction, Ha Long-Hai Phong expressway project, which is about 25 km long connecting Ha Long city (Quang Ninh) with Hai Phong city, is almost complete. The road is expected to open sometime during the second quarter of 2018.

When the Ha Long – Hai phong expressway goes into use, it will cut short the distance between Ha Long and Hai Phong from 75km to 25km, and between Hanoi and Ha Long from 180km to 130km. It will cut travel time from Hanoi to the famous bay in half. With the quicker route, a 1-day Ha Long Bay tour from Hanoi will now be considered a good option for travellers with limited time.
