Vespa Adventure: Mekong Islands & Countryside

Just a few kilometres away from Phnom Penh there exists a rural paradise hidden away on the islands of the Mekong River. This adventure on the back of a Vespa scooter helps travellers escape the city and dive into the rural world of yesterday crossing riverside tracks and dirt roads and taking three ferry rides throughout the experience, while enjoying fantastic views of the city on one side with countryside life on the other.

Visit a 500-year old sanctuary temple set in a mystical forest, a local family’s sugar palm and goat farm, an island market, and a family-run special soup ingredient business while also learning about local belief systems and the tradition of Buddhist cremation. For an even more local experience, witness  the art of silk making at a local family house then sit down to lunch with the family.

This Vespa tour starts at 7:30 hours from your hotel.  Arrival back at the hotel is around 14:30 hours at the latest, leaving enough time in the afternoon to relax or participate in another tour.

Why we like this Tour? The minute you cross the Mekong from Phnom Penh you are truly out in the countryside. I often mountain bike in the area on and around Silk Island and, I have to say, Vespa Tours found some cool interesting stops “off the beaten track”.  – Ronni Dalhoff, MD
