Afterward, embark on a seven-day journey through lush pine, oak and spruce forests, traversing snow-capped mountains and high pastures where the yak herders feed their animals.

An Overview of Your Adventure

DAY 1

Start your adventure in Bhutan with a warm welcome as you arrive at Paro International Airport. Your guide will introduce you to the city of Paro, and you’ll have the opportunity to explore the area. Take in the sights of Rinpung, a well-preserved fortress from 1645. Additionally, explore the beautiful Pelri Palace in Paro, which was inspired by the sky-dwelling paradise of Zangsopelri. If that isn’t enough, you can visit the National Museum, which houses all the country’s cultural treasures.

DAY 2

Begin your day with a challenging hike to the famous Taktsang Monastery, also known as the “Tiger’s Nest.” This amazing sanctuary perches on a cliff 900m above the Paro valley. After the exhilarating hike, enjoy lunch on your way down. In the afternoon, visit a local farmhouse to experience the life of a rural Bhutanese family.

DAY 3

Embark on your trekking journey from Shana, covering a distance of 17 kilometers. Along the way, take in stunning views of terraced rice fields and apple orchards as you ascend through dense forests.

DAY 4

Today’s trek is 22 kilometers long and takes you through the beautiful and untouched landscape of Bhutan. Traverse lush forests and cross crystal-clear rivers as you make your way to the top of the trail, situated in the foothills of the Gedu Rinpoche National Nature Reserve.

DAY 5

The journey continues with a 19-kilometer hike to the Yangothang campsite. Here, you’ll savor breathtaking views of Yomolhari, Jichu Darke, and beyond. As you ascend above the tree line, you’ll glimpse some of the highest peaks in the region.

DAY 6

Commence your 18-kilometer hike to Lingshi, ascending the Nyele la pass (4,700m), where you’ll be treated to stunning mountain views and the historic Dzong of Lingshi.

DAY 7

The day’s hike covers 22 kilometers, leading you to Shodu, a tranquil campsite. Along the way, immerse yourself in the sounds of beautiful rivers as you journey through the Rhododendron forest and juniper trees.

DAY 8

Today’s 16-kilometer trek will take you to the Barshong area, where you’ll have the opportunity to explore what remains of the Barshong Dzong. Your campsite will be nestled amidst the stunning scenery, making it the perfect place for an overnight stay.

DAY 9

Set out on your trek from Barshong and cover the 15-kilometer distance from Dolam Kencho to your overnight camp. Traverse thick forests and picturesque streams until you reach a beautiful meadow.

DAY 10

Conclude your trek with a 3-hour descent from Dolam Khencho to Doden. Then, head to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan, where you can explore some of the country’s cultural highlights.

DAY 11

Spend the day sightseeing in Thimphu! Be sure to visit the National Memorial Chorten, Changangkha Temple, Zilukha Nunnery, and the School for Arts and Crafts. Explore Bhutan’s literary history at the National Library and gain insight into rural life at the Folk Heritage Museum.

DAY 12

Your time in Bhutan comes to an end as you depart from Paro International Airport. Leave with cherished memories of the stunning scenery and rich culture of Bhutan, carrying the spirit of the Land of the Thunder Dragon with you.
