Its stunning scenery will make for one of the most unforgettable 12 days of your trip, as you explore the main cities and the more remote villages. You'll learn about the customs and spiritual beliefs of Bhutan at the National Museum and Institute for Zoroastrianism, and visit some of the most important temples and monasteries in the country, like Bumthang and Kurjey. You'll also have some time to explore the stunning Wangdue district.

An Overview of Your Adventure

DAY 1

When you arrive in Paro, your Diethelm Travel Bhutan guide will greet you and take you to your hotel. During your stay, you’ll have the opportunity to explore Paro’s rich culture, including visits to Rinpung Dzong and the National Museum, which houses priceless art and cultural treasures.

DAY 2

If you’re interested in getting to know Paro more intimately, consider exploring some lesser-known spots in the area. We’ve got you covered with visits to Dungtse Lhakhang, the ruins of Drugyel Dzong, and Kyichu Lhakhang. These sites offer valuable insights into the history and spiritual practices of Bhutan.

DAY 3

Head to the capital of Bhutan, Thimphu, where you’ll make stops at Tachang Temple, the textile museum, the national library, and the national folk heritage museum. You’ll have the chance to immerse yourself in Bhutan’s culture and art, and also visit the Memorial Chorten and the painting school.

DAY 4

Continue your journey to Punakha via Dochula Pass and explore Changangkha Temple, Druk Wangyel Chorten, and Chimi Lhakhang. This temple is renowned for its blessings that bring good luck.

DAY 5

Dive into Punakha’s attractions by visiting the majestic Punakha Dzong and hiking to Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Chorten. You’ll also have the opportunity to visit the Bhutan Souvenir Production Training Center.

DAY 6

Travel to Gangtey and make a stop at Khewang Lhakhang along the way.

DAY 7

Explore Gangtey Valley, including a visit to Gangtey Goemba, while enjoying the breathtaking surroundings.

DAY 8

Journey to Bumtang and explore Jakar Dzong and Wangdichholing Palace, both significant historical sites.

DAY 9

Embark on an excursion to the URA Valley and visit the unique Mebar Tsho (burning lake). If time allows, explore more of Bumtang’s cultural sites.

DAY 10

Return to Wangdue and enjoy some free time to relax. DAY 11: Drive back to Paro and embark on a hike to the iconic Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest). DAY 12: Your guide will accompany you to the airport for your departure from Paro.
