Share

Battambang’s new Bamboo Train has opened its new rail route! A reinvention of the famous bamboo rattler has been completed 500 metres from Phnom Banon. The old track was closed in October 2017 to make way for the renovation of the state railway. Rails and sleepers from the original route have been used to lay a purpose built 4-kilometre track, running through stunning scenic countryside alongside starting point from the Banon hills at the point of Sang Village, Kanteu II Commune to Chhoeu Teal Commune.

Ticket fees are USD 2.50 per person for national visitors ten years old and up and USD 5.00 per person for international visitors.

Provincial tourism authorities arranged the new home for the train with the original operators still running the business. There will be six new Bamboo Trains in operation to serve national and international visitors who are coming to visit Banon temple. The new location is foreseen to spur tourism growth in the area and improve local livelihoods.
