The old Ministers’ Office, formerly known as the Secretariat Building, was built in the late 19th century and is more than 120 years old. Sitting in the heart of the city, the elegant Victorian-style building served the British seat of government for Myanmar until the country\u2019s independence in 1948. The historic build was also the site where General Aung San and six cabinet ministers were assassinated by political rivals on 19 July 1947, now commemorated as Burmese Martyrs\u2019 Day. This significant building has been closed for several years and is now under restoration to be transformed into a museum and offices.<\/p>\n
