However, with the new route in place, the travel time will be slashed to less than nine hours. This includes an eight-hour trip on the Beijing West- Guangzhou South bullet train and a 48-minute trip from Guangzhou to Hong Kong along the new 26-kilometre section.<\/p>\n<p>It is estimated that nearly 110,000 passengers per day will travel between Hong Kong and the mainland during the first year of operation.
