Many of Diethelm Travel products involve\u00a0watching or interacting with animals.\u00a0While attractions involving animals can\u00a0have social, economic, environmental and\u00a0educational benefits, when activities are not carefully\u00a0managed, they can negatively impact the welfare of\u00a0the animals and affect our customer\u2019s enjoyment of the\u00a0experience. We want to help protect animals from exploitation, neglect and cruelty. With this in\u00a0mind, we\u2019re helping try to raise awareness for a current fundraising campaign for the Elephant Conservation Center in Sayaboury, Laos. The centre recently received\u00a013\u00a0elephants that were rescued from being sold abroad. Originally trained to perform degrading circus\u00a0tricks, the elephants which range between the ages of 5 – 47, will now be enjoying life amongst the\u00a0centre’s already existing herd of 16. While it\u2019s an incredible opportunity, the new elephants do put\u00a0financial pressures on the centre so they\u2019re running a crowdsourced fundraising campaign to support\u00a0the elephant\u2019s proper care.
