Destination Update Philippines: Typhoon Odette

The Philippine’s resilience was once again tested as Super Typhoon Rai (“Odette” in the Philippines) barreled through parts of Mindanao and Visayas a week before Christmas.

The typhoon made initial landfall on Thursday, Dec. 16 at 1:30 p.m. local time on Siargao Island in southeastern Philippines and slashed across 7 regions making several landfalls. Piece by piece, the nation is getting a clearer picture of the damages brought by Typhoon with initial focus on search and rescue.

At 1000H today the center of the eye of Typhoon was located at Pag-asa Island, Kalayaan, Palawan and is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility today.

We wish to inform our partners that our colleagues in the Philippines are all safe and our offices remain open. We will continue to monitor the situation and will update you about any relevant developments. Should you wish to get in touch with us you may contact our General Manager for Diethelm Philippines Mr. Gregor Zajc at Gregor.Z@ph.diethelmtravel.com. We remain at your disposal.
