Cu Chi Tunnels Named Among Top Seven Underground Destinations

Share

Hong Kong newspaper South China Morning Post has listed the Vietnam War-era underground guerrilla tunnels in Ho Chi Minh City’s suburban district of Cu Chi among the top seven tunnel tours in the world.

Located some 70 kilometres northwest of Ho Chi Minh City, the Cu Chi Tunnels are an enduring symbol of the Vietnam War. The 250-kilometre-long complex was built in the late 1940s and underwent intense bombardment by the Americans in the 1960s. Today the tunnels are preserved as a war memorial and attract millions of visitors every year.

Last year the Cu Chi Tunnels were voted eighth out of the top 25 Asian landmarks by TripAdvisor travellers. American news site CNN has also listed it as one of the world’s top underground tourist attractions.
