help support rescued elephants in Laos

Share

Many of Diethelm Travel products involve watching or interacting with animals. While attractions involving animals can have social, economic, environmental and educational benefits, when activities are not carefully managed, they can negatively impact the welfare of the animals and affect our customer’s enjoyment of the experience. We want to help protect animals from exploitation, neglect and cruelty. With this in mind, we’re helping try to raise awareness for a current fundraising campaign for the Elephant Conservation Center in Sayaboury, Laos. The centre recently received 13 elephants that were rescued from being sold abroad. Originally trained to perform degrading circus tricks, the elephants which range between the ages of 5 – 47, will now be enjoying life amongst the centre’s already existing herd of 16. While it’s an incredible opportunity, the new elephants do put financial pressures on the centre so they’re running a crowdsourced fundraising campaign to support the elephant’s proper care.
