explore the heritage city of Malacca by a 2-day walking journey

Share

Malacca is the historical state of Malaysia famous for its Portuguese and Dutch heritage, which was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008. Besides the many interesting historical spots, Malacca is well known for its unique culinary traditions and an afternoon walking around the historical centre is the best way to discover the treasures of the city. The walk will start on the bridge over the Malacca River, once the centre of trade between East and West. With your trusted guide, Serge, walk along the left and right banks of the river listening to the voices of the ruins on the Hill where the Malay Sultans, the Portuguese, Dutch, British and Japanese, ruled over the Straits of Malacca one after another. From churches to tombs, you will sit with men of God and famed warriors hearing the call of the muezzin over the tiled roofs of Malacca, where the Buddhists, Christians, Hindus, Muslims and Taoists, all pray in the same religious fervor.

Enjoy comfortable accommodation at The Snail House, a townhouse almost two centuries old in the heart of town that showcases one of the first efforts of private restoration using traditional material and techniques – perfect for guests interested in architecture and history.

In the morning on the second day, enjoy a walk on your own before turning back to Kuala Lumpur.
